EZULWINI – The SADC-RTGS Group Conference, currently underway at the Central Bank Complex in Ezulwini, has drawn strong regional participation, including the Transactions Cleared on an Immediate Basis (TCIB) team.
The TCIB operates the cross-border payments scheme under PayInc (formerly BankservAfrica).
Over the two-day conference, which concludes today, discussions have centred on advancing regional integration through payments innovation.
Speaking in an interview at the event, PayInc Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Stephen Linnell noted the importance of the dialogue and the role of TCIB in powering financial inclusion across the SADC region.
“The conference is giving us a vital platform to engage on the key enablers of financial inclusion within the SADC real-time prefunded settlement model, in collaboration with SADC-RTGS. The presence of all stakeholders is also critical as we highlight the important implications of adopting this approach in advancing inclusion and regional integration,” said Linnell.
“This approach ensures that every transaction is settled instantly and irrevocably, building trust and providing security – both essential for inclusion. Financial inclusion remains a top priority for the SADC region, yet millions of people, particularly in rural and low-income communities, remain excluded from financial services,” he added. Since its launch in 2021, PayInc has served as the SADC Regional and Settlement System Operator (RSCO) for cross-border payments, driving the development and rollout of the TCIB Cross-Border Payment Scheme.
