MBABANE – They have cracked the whip!
This is MTN Premier League giants Mbabane Swallows, who have since suspended two of their players for allegedly attending a meeting with the Mbabane Swallows (PTY) Limited management at the Sigwaca House on Tuesday.
The red and white capital city giants are currently faced with ownership challenges between the Mbabane Swallows FC and Mbabane Swallows (PTY) Limited. The latter paid the PLE a visit, seeking the organisation’s intervention in the matter between the two parties in a bid to seize control of the team.
Their initial visit did not yield the desired results, as they were told that the PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati was out of office. They eventually met the PLE Executive Committee (ExCo) yesterday at the Sigwaca House, when they were advised to engage in a dialogue with the other party to find common ground on the matter.
The FC faction, in a statement posted on their official Facebook page addressed to their supporters and stakeholders yesterday, stated that they were concerned by the behaviour of a faction alleged to be acting in the best interest of the club, yet, on the other hand, making every effort to destabilise the operations of the team.
They alleged that this faction on Tuesday invited a group of players to attend a meeting at Madlenya House, yet the players were supposed to attend training.
Swallows FC alleged that the players were mobilised to stay out of their activities until a handover of the club to the other faction. “Subsequently, the group of players was summoned before the officials of the club to appreciate the reasons for snubbing training,” reads part of the statement.
The statement also states that it was in the meeting that the players opened up on what was discussed and the influence of the strike. It is reported that all the players were remorseful except for two. “The two players have been suspended from the team’s activities until they come before the club’s disciplinary committee,” reads the statement.
