TOKYO, JAPAN – Reaching for the stars.
In a move signalling a transformative new era for Southern African Athletics, the Southern African Confederation of Athletics (SACA) yesterday unveiled its new logo and brand identity at a ceremony in Tokyo, Japan.
The event, held at the prestigious New Otani Hotel, was presided over by SACA President Zakhele Dlamini, with World Athletics President Sebastian Coe in attendance.
In his address, President Dlamini highlighted a vision for SACA that is both ambitious and pragmatic.
Drawing inspiration from African wisdom, he stressed the importance of collaboration, stating: “If you want to go quickly, go alone. However, if you want to go far, go together.”
This sentiment, he explained, is at the heart of the confederation’s new direction, aiming to professionalise the sport and build it into a viable business.
The new logo, which was officially revealed by Coe, represents a clean break from the past, embracing a more modern, corporate image.
The accompanying slogan, ‘Inspired To Rise Together’ encapsulates the renewed focus on collective strength and shared goals.
