MBABANE – Royal Leopard will be aiming to hit the ground running when they face off against Namibia’s Young African in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup first preliminary round.

These two regional rivals are heading into this match as a complete unknown quantity to each other, having never crossed paths even in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) competition.

Edwin Matsebula’s side, who were roared on by their boss, National Commissioner (NATCOM) of Police Vusi Manoma Masango, before their departure, are hoping to come out all guns blazing and get a crucial away win to take back home to Somhlolo National Stadium next weekend.

Standing in their way is a financially stable Young African that have pulled out all the stops to prepare for this fixture. They have been training intensively for eight weeks, and with their domestic season yet to kick off, they have also brought in 10 new signings, including Namibia Champions League envoys African Stars’ goalkeeper Vaitevera Tjitindi and striker Nicodemus Haikali.

While the Namibians have never played at this stage of their 12-year history of establishment, they will be looking to cause an upset and get the job done in this first leg to avoid any headaches in the return fixture.
