Sarnilo’s journey from Eswatini to the global stage is an inspiring tale of talent, resilience and vision.

Her recent experience at the Spotify Africa Writing Camp has not only elevated her career, but also reaffirmed her commitment to sharing authentic African stories through music.

During a meet and greet with the Gcwala team, she narrated her experience and how it has helped her.

“Representing Eswatini at the Spotify Africa Writing Camp was a milestone for me.

“It was an empowering and humbling experience to be among a select group of Africa’s promising artists, producers and songwriters.

“The immersive nature of the camp expanded my artistic horizons, allowing me to interact closely with peers and mentors.

“This kind of exposure has deeply influenced my growth by broadening my understanding of music creation, Afro-centric sounds and global music trends, enriching my artistic vision and confidence,” she said.

The camp brought together some of Africa’s most talented musicians and industry professionals.

Working with mentors like TRESOR and P.Priime was an eye-opener, according to Sarnilo. They offered not only technical production skills, but also deep insights into the music industry and the importance of creative authenticity and timing.

P.Priime emphasised the significance of mutual excitement and alignment in collaborations, which taught her to be selective and intentional about her artistic partnerships.

“One of the highlights of the camp was collaborating on my song ‘Wander Into You.’

The track is a beautiful blend of Soulful R&B and Afro-fusion.

The collaboration with producer PSILK and songwriter Mikhaela Faye was crucial in shaping the song’s final sound, blending Soulful R&B with Afro-fusion seamlessly.

PSILK’s production skills brought a rich, textured instrumental backdrop that elevated the emotional tone of the track, while Mikhaela’s composition was moving, enhancing the soulfulness and intimacy of the song.

“This creative synergy between producer and songwriters resulted in a compelling and distinct sound that balances modern Afrobeat influences with R&B soulfulness,” she said.

“My music aims to contribute meaningfully to the African music scene. I want to tell authentic stories that resonate deeply with diverse audiences.

“Through my fusion of Afrocentric elements with contemporary sounds, I hope to inspire listeners.

“My work carries themes of self-discovery and emotional vulnerability, aiming to uplift and connect people across the continent and internationally.

“I want my music to offer both enjoyment and meaningful reflection,” she added.
