MBABANE – At least seven international Simba SC players are set to feature against CAF Champions League envoy Nsingizini Hotspurs tomorrow at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Among the Simba players who were recently on national duty are goalkeeper Yakoub Suleiman, Wilson Nangu, Yusuph Kagoma, Seleman Mwalimu, and Morice Abraham, who were with the Taifa Stars (as Tanzania are affectionately known). The list is completed by Uganda forward Steven Mukwala and midfielder Naby Camara from Guinea.
This publication earlier revealed that former Mamelodi Sundowns duo—defender Rushine de Reuck and midfield maestro Neo Maema—also form part of Simba’s roster of international players. Simba will be without key names – midfield dynamo Mohammed Bajaber and first-choice goalkeeper Moussa Camara, who remain sidelined with injuries.
Simba maintained their international preparations on Sunday by playing their second friendly match against Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman at the Gymkhana Grounds in Dar es Salaam. This was the second friendly since Bulgarian Dimitar Pantev took charge of the team. The match ended in a 4-1 defeat for Simba. In the first friendly between the two sides, played at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, Simba secured a 2-1 victory.
Pantev acknowledged the challenge posed by their upcoming match against Nsingizini Hotspurs, explaining that the two friendlies were designed to build tactical understanding, according to The Citizen official website.
“We need to be a team that plays with organisation, attacks with calculation and defends with unity. These friendlies allow me to see who is ready to fight for the Simba badge on and off the pitch,” said the coach, who favours a 4-3-3 formation.
Pantev and his charges are reported to have arrived in the country yesterday.
