MBABANE – Another demand!
Manzini Wanderers’ recent participation fee relief has been abruptly cancelled, as attorneys for former Mbabane Swallows President Bishop Bheki Lukhele have formally instructed the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) to immediately seize E50 000 from the club’s funds to settle a long-standing debt.
Bishop Lukhele has made the renewed demand via his legal representatives, Dunseith Attorneys. The firm wrote to the PLE demanding an immediate deduction of E50 000 from the ‘Weslians’ 2025/26 MTN Premier League season participation fee.
This development follows the recent announcement by PLE Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Pat ‘Kungumusa’ Vilakati, that the organisation had released the participation fee for all teams. This season, the fee increased by E10 000, bringing the total paid out to E110 000 per club.
A source close to the matter alleged that Lukhele’s legal representatives are aware the club received their full E110 000, which allegedly reportedly violates a prior agreement reached with both the club and the PLE.
“The agreement was that the PLE would deduct E50 000 from the participation fee to settle the E200 000 debt and then pay E10 000 monthly instalments until the debt is fully settled,” the source revealed.
This alleged breach is the reason Lukhele’s representatives issued the stern reminder to the PLE.
A copy of the letter obtained by this publication confirms that Dunseith Attorneys issued a stern reminder to the PLE to comply with the new payment arrangement established with the club’s leadership.
The arrangement, confirmed to have been established after a meeting between Lukhele’s lawyer and Wanderers’ current Director, Mlamuli Mabuza, dictates a two-part payment plan.
