MANZINI – Red Rhinos’ midfield maestro, Teboho ‘Juries’ Dlamini, has become the first MulaSport National First Division (NFD) Player of the Month winner.
The 21-year-old was officially crowned yesterday at the MulaSport offices in Manzini, during a ceremony honouring the lower division’s outstanding performer for October.
‘Juries’ was named last month’s finest player, receiving a replica cheque for E2 500 and a complimentary gift bag.
The presentation was made by MulaSport’s Country Manager, Mukelo Magagula, alongside the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Brand and Marketing Officer, Lindokuhle Mthupha.
It was revealed that Dlamini fended off stiff competition for the accolade, notably from two players from the log leaders, Nkwene Sundowns. These are Msimisi Dlamini and Majaha Mdlovu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mthupha said the former Manzini Central High School player was the eventual winner of the monthly prize, which has seen an increase this season to E2 500, up from E2 000.
She highlighted his crucial role in the belly of the park, noting that his performance included contributing to goalscoring opportunities, reportedly providing two assists.
Meanwhile, Dlamini, who now enters the running for the Player of the Season award, expressed his gratitude. He described the recognition as a milestone, rather than a mere achievement.
He thanked everyone who had contributed to his success, specifically mentioning Red Rhinos President Sithembiso ‘Ngudze’ Mamba, Coach Percy Shongwe and the technical staff, his teammates, the fans and the Manzini Central team. “To me, this means a lot, and I would like to thank them for the platform they have given me to express my talent to shine,” he said.
On a final note, MulaSport congratulated the winner, expressing hope that this is just the beginning of ‘Juries’ winning many more awards. Magagula believed Dlamini was a deserving winner, based on his contribution to the team, and thanked the PLE for their guidance as MulaSport establishes its footing in supporting a major domestic sporting code.
