LOBAMBA – Lactalis Eswatini has increased its sponsorship for the 2026 Resolution Run hosted by the Big Game Parks (BGP) at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary.

The increased funding was announced yesterday during the launch of the race, which features 21km, 10km and 5km races.

Lactalis Managing Director (MD) Martin Herbst said the company was proud to be part of the event for about 20 years, highlighting its contribution to community development and conservation efforts.

Herbst expressed happiness in the ongoing partnership with BGP. Meanwhile, BGP Manager Lucky Phiri added that the partnership started with a sponsorship of E45 000. For next year’s edition, he disclosed that they are injecting E100 000. He clarified that, of this package, E80 000 is for sponsorship, while E20 000 is for stock.

On the other hand, the BGP Marketing Manager, Hlengiwe Mhlungu, announced a major change. Mhlungu said the race will not be held in February as usual, but on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

She explained that new resolutions are typically the first things done in a new year, hence the Resolution Run should appropriately be the first event on the Athletics Eswatini (AE) road calendar.

Mhlungu also noted that the first 325 participants to register will receive goodie bags and clients of Oracle Insurance will enjoy a 50 per cent discount on their registration fees.

Meanwhile, AE President Zakhele Dlamini mentioned that they have sanctioned the event and appreciated that it will now be the first long-distance race for runners to burn off festive season excesses.

However, registration opens today at 9am, according to Sponsor Co-ordinator Yolanda Lauenstein.
