MBABANE – Manganganeni Ladies were officially crowned champions of the 2025 MP Welcome Mbabane East Women Football Zonal League yesterday, completing a historic three-peat of victories.

The prize presentation ceremony was held at Sigwaca House and was attended by the league’s sponsor, Welcome ‘Wex’ Dlamini, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Mbabane East.

Also in attendance were Eswatini Women Football Association (EWFA) Vice Chairperson Cindy Dludlu, Chief Operations Officer (COO) Ntandoyenkhosi Hlatshwako, along with team representatives and players.

The MP sponsored the league to the tune of E15 000. The champions, Manganganeni Ladies, took home the top prize of E4 000, while the runners-up, Ntsentse Flyers, received E3 000. The prestigious Player of the Season award was presented to Ntsentse Flyers’ Lindelwa Sihlongonyane.

MP Dlamini expressed his satisfaction that the league’s executive committee was dominated by women, stating that it shows the girls are in ‘safe hands.’

“I am happy that you are following the trend set by other countries to involve women in ladies football. I therefore, urge the EWFA to take care of the flowers of our local football,” Dlamini said.

He also urged the players to ‘desist from lesbianism as it is not good for the image of women football and is against the will of God.’

Looking ahead, the MP made a commitment to support further development: “I would like to promise that I will sponsor the festive season one-day tournament to the tune of E5 000,” he added.
