MBABANE – Struggling MTN Premier League Hub giants Manzini Wanderers have officially unveiled Jerry ‘Mbazo’ Gamedze as their new Director of Operations.

The announcement was made yesterday via the maroon and white hub giants’ official Facebook page, confirming that the former national team, Sihlangu, captain has assumed the position with immediate effect. This development comes barely a month after the resignation of Director Mlamuli Mabuza, who was originally unveiled as the club’s Co-Director alongside Sibane Mngomezulu at an event held at Manzini Club.

“Jerry brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in organisational leadership,” reads part of the statement.

It is further stated that the Board has full confidence in the former ‘Weslians’ skipper and his capability to steer the team, providing the stability required to strengthen the club’s operations, enhance efficiency and drive sustainable growth.

The local football legend has been tasked with overseeing the day-to-day management of the club’s activities, ensuring that strategic objectives are implemented with precision and that the values of Wanderers are upheld at every level.

“His appointment marks a significant step in reinforcing the club’s commitment to professionalism, accountability and excellence both on and off the pitch,” reads an extract.

The Board, according to the statement, calls upon all stakeholders, including players, staff, supporters and partners, to rally behind him.

Meanwhile, Wanderers Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mongi Simelane confirmed the appointment of Gamedze as the Director of Operations.

“This is a new position, created while the team is still searching for someone to lead it, as Director Mlamuli stepped down,” Simelane said.

On the other hand, the Gcina Dlamini-coached outfit is currently finding things hard in the league, as they sit in the danger zone with just five points from seven games. They have a fixture against rookies Amawele tomorrow at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground.
