MBABANE – As we are within the festive season, Eswatini Events Managers and Promoters Association (EEMPA) has warned scammers from releasing fake posters.
December is by far the busiest and grooviest month of the year and EEMPA Secretary Banele Dlamini has sent a stern warning to people who may want to make a quick buck through false advertisement.
“Yes, it is the season to be jolly, but we should be jolly in a good way. The association is very strict when it comes to these guys who will try and lure emaSwati into false events,” he said.
Dlamini also added that they will be working closely with authorities to ensure that the people who try to commit such crimes are brought to book.
“If we see any posters online that will involve international acts coming to the kingdom, we will liaise with their team to ensure that they are aware of the event and they will be present. If it is a fake profile, the association will take it further to the authorities to track down those responsible for fake posters. The only exceptions will be made when the artist is at fault and a make-up show is arranged,” he said.
Dlamini further emphasised the importance of collaboration, revealing that EEMPA is still working alongside the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), the Royal Eswatini Police Services and relevant stakeholders to educate event organisers about the complexities involved in event planning. “Our goal is to help individuals and event organisers understand the logistics associated with organising successful events. It is vital that they comprehend the reasons for registering with our association,” he said.
Dlamini noted that the events sector plays a role in promoting culture and entertainment within Eswatini and further reminded organisers to comply with the association’s regulations.
“By providing a platform for organisers to connect, we hope to strengthen the industry and enhance the quality of events held in the country,” he added.
In recent years, Eswatini has seen a rise in various events, ranging from music festivals to cultural showcases.
However, Dlamini pointed out that many organisers often face challenges due to a lack of resources and support.
