MANZINI – Two teachers from Khulani Bomake Pre-school have been arrested for allegedly defrauding a parent of E217 000 through fake school-fee receipts issued over an 11-month period.
The suspects, Nompumelelo Gama Dlamini (43) of Madonsa and Sibongile Jesllinah Tsabedze (49) of Ngwane Park, yesterday appeared before Manzini Magistrate Justice Mzizi. They are facing three charges: Fraud, contravention of the Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Prevention) Act of 2011 and forgery.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between January and November 2025.
According to the charge sheet, the duo, acting jointly and in furtherance of a common purpose, allegedly misrepresented to a parent, Ncamsile Dlamini, that she owed outstanding fees at the preschool.
They are accused of issuing receipts that appeared to be official school documents, yet were not part of the institution’s legitimate financial records.
It is alleged that the teachers reproduced a receipt book belonging to the school and used it to collect money from the complainant. The State contends that the accused knew that the receipts were fraudulent and that the funds collected did not reach the school.
By allegedly using money obtained through the fake receipts, the pair is said to have violated Section 4(1)(c) as read with Sections 76 and 89(1)(a) of the Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Prevention) Act.
On the forgery count, the Crown alleges that the teachers intentionally reproduced and used a forged Khulani Bomake Preschool receipt book, presenting it to the complainant as proof of legitimate payments.
A close source said suspicions arose around the time of the school’s graduation ceremony, when parents were contacted and told they had arrears.
