MANZINI – Kobe-Ramokgadi Advanced Learning Academy has not only excelled by breaking its own record, but has also etched its name into the regional academic hall of fame.
This is according to the academy’s Acting Head teacher Patrick Tsela. The release of the 2025 Independent Examinations Board (IEB-ISC) results heralded a historic moment for the academy, which achieved a 96 per cent pass rate, recording a three per cent improvement from the previous year. He said the celebration reached a new pinnacle with the announcement that one of their own, Phiwayinkhosi Mkhatshwa has been officially acknowledged by the IEB for an extraordinary achievement, ranking within the top one per cent of candidates nationally in SiSwati Home Language. The acting head teacher said this accolade, measured against the performance of all IEB-ISC candidates across Eswatini, Namibia and Mozambique, marks the highest possible subject-level achievement and establishes a new benchmark for excellence among independent schools in the region.
“This is a moment of immense pride, not just for Phiwayinkhosi and our school, but for Eswatini. To have a student recognised in the top one per cent at an international level underscores the depth of talent we nurture and our commitment to excellence in both global and indigenous disciplines,” Tsela said.
He added that Phiwayinkhosi’s landmark achievement is the crowning jewel of a year defined by widespread success. He said out of 47 matriculants, the results demonstrate a culture of high aspiration; 33 students earned the ISC-MERIT certificate and 12 students achieved the ISC certificate. Again, he said the academy’s pioneering focus on integrating cutting-edge technology into education continues to yield results, with the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Department maintaining a flawless 100 per cent pass rate in subjects like Computer Science and Computer Studies. He added that significant improvements were also noted in Physical Sciences and Languages.
Once more, Tsela said with a total of 18 subject distinctions across the cohort, the academy celebrates not just one stellar performer, but a community of high achievers. He said the Class of 2025 left a legacy of determination, intellectual curiosity and now, a record of international recognition.
He said Phiwayinkhosi and his peers prepare to embark on their future journeys, they carry with them the pride of a nation and the proven standard that at Kobe-Ramokgadi, the sky is not the limit- it is the beginning. Furthermore, the academy’s success including the STEM Department is no accident; it is the direct result of Kobe-Ramokgadi’s pioneering mission to integrate cutting-edge technology seamlessly into the fabric of education. He said the strategy is paying dividends, fostering a generation of digitally fluent, innovative thinkers. “The remarkable performance in our technology subjects is transformative. It validates our academic approach and drives us to further embed advanced, future-focused strategies into our educational ecosystem,” the acting head teacher added. Tsela said the momentum extends to the Physical Sciences, where Physics and Chemistry recorded an impressive 91 per cent pass rate.
He added that this year witnessed an improvement in student performance in quantitative reasoning, with a notable increase in learners achieving coveted B and B+ grades – a testament to both student perseverance and targeted pedagogical support. “Excellence at Kobe-Ramokgadi is holistic. The Languages Department delivered breathtaking results, producing a cluster of A and A distinctions in both English and SiSwati Home Languages. Adding an international flair, students in French Language in practice also secured outstanding distinctions, equipping them for a globalised world,” Tsela said. Again, he said in the Social Sciences and Tourism, they maintained a perfect 100 per cent pass record, solidifying their reputation as a premier gateway for students aspiring to dynamic careers in hospitality and international tourism.
