LOBAMBA – The Eswatini Hockey Association (EHA) has revealed a net deficit of over E15 000 for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.

This was disclosed in a financial report presented at the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday, held at the OlympAfrica Centre Hall within the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Head Offices.

The report was presented by EHA Treasurer, Chereen Thomson, who stated that the financial statements were prepared on an accrual basis and reflect a true and fair view of the association’s performance for the period under review.

“During the year, the association recorded a total income of E502 053.25 and total expenditure of E519 687.03, resulting in a net deficit of E17 633.78,” revealed Thomson.

She explained that income was primarily derived from international competitions and development programmes, including the Botswana Test Series and the Under-14 Botswana tour, alongside affiliation fees, donations and grants from the sports council.

“Expenditure was largely driven by costs related to international participation, development initiatives, league operations and administrative obligations such as audits, banking and affiliation fees,” she added.

Thomson further noted that while the association recorded a deficit, this was largely attributable to strategic investments in player development, international exposure and governance compliance. She confirmed that the executive committee acknowledges the need to strengthen sustainable income streams and improve long-term financial planning.

“I confirm that, to the best of my knowledge, the financial records of the association have been properly maintained and that all expenditure was incurred in line with the association’s objectives,” the treasurer concluded.
