BETHANY – The family of deceased socialite Sakhile ‘Oros’ Msibi estimates that it will cost about E400 000 to repatriate his body from the United States of America to Eswatini.

The estimate was confirmed by the deceased’s aunt, Manzini Principal Magistrate Florence Msibi, who said the amount includes medical, mortuary and logistical expenses associated with the repatriation process.

She stressed, however, that the figure is provisional as the family is still sourcing quotations to establish the final cost.

“This is just an estimate at this stage. We are still gathering information and quotations to determine the actual cost,” she said.

Msibi said the family has not yet been informed of the cause of death and they are awaiting post-mortem results.

“We were only informed of his passing, but we do not yet know the cause of death. We are waiting for the post-mortem to confirm it,” she said.

Although reports circulating on social media suggest that Msibi succumbed to a short illness, the family has indicated that such claims remain unconfirmed until official medical results are released.

During a church service attended by members of the congregation where the deceased’s mother worships, a family representative said they are in communication with the mortuary where Msibi’s body is being kept as they continue to make repatriation arrangements.

He said the news came as a shock to the family, adding that they initially hoped it would turn out to be a hoax, as had happened previously.

“Shockingly, it turned out to be true this time. We are still trying to come to terms with this sad news. We have not yet been informed of the circumstances surrounding his death and are relying on the post-mortem to confirm the cause,” he said.

He said the family was also engaging with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in preparing all the necessary paperwork for the repatriation process.
