MBABANE – As investigations into the kidnapping and extortion of a dentist intensify, a popular Mbabane businessman has been arrested.

The entrepreneur, who runs one of the popular hangout spot in the capital city, was said to have been arrested yesterday morning after being handed over to the police.

The entrepreneur was, according to sources, arrested in relation to the kidnapping of a dentist.

The businessman cannot be named for now, as he is yet to appear before a court of law.

The businessman, along with others are said to have kidnapped the dentist, aged 42. The dentist is employed in one of the public health facilities and was reportedly kidnapped on January 3, 2026, at around 5:30pm, while at Mnyamatsini.

Sources claimed that he was kidnapped and assaulted before being purportedly forced to travel to Ludzeludze, where it was claimed that he was assaulted and coerced into transferring E15 000 via e-wallet platform.

The astute businessman is the second suspect to be arrested in relation to the kidnapping. Last Thursday, this publication reported that Bandile Mrico Dlamini was arrested by Mbabane police on January 14, 2026, at Sicelwini (Manzini).

As the pair has been arrested, another duo has been filed by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) as the most wanted people.  The police have added an infographic of Sikhumbuzo Mazwi Mdluli of KaBhekinkosi as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.

Earlier, police appealed for assistance in locating Lungelo Malinga of Zombodze, another suspect in the case.

The addition of the pair, as people of interest to the police, adds to that of Lindelwa Zamlindi Gama, from KaKhoza, who remains at large.

In the notice, they said: “The Royal Eswatini Police Service is appealing to members of the public to assist in locating Bandile Mrico Dlamini and Lindelwa Zamlindi Gama of KaKhoza in connection with the kidnapping of a 42-year-old man of Mnyamatsini, who was forcefully taken from his gate, while at Mnyamatsini.”

The police appealed for information as they requested that anyone who may have information that could lead to their arrest to contact Hhohho RCBO Assistant Superintendent Vusie Junior Dlamini on 7606 7447 or Hhohho-in-charge Serious Crimes Unit Lukhozi Inspector B. Simelane on 7678 3302.

It is worth noting that there are several people reportedly implicated in the kidnapping of the dentist. Investigations are ongoing.

It is worth noting that in recent months, the most common kidnappings occurred to people who were survivors of robbers.

They would be forced to share their banking personal identity numbers (PIN) with the robbers, who would then keep them for 24 hours to maximise withdrawing their cash.

The REPS has urged members of the public with information on the suspects’ whereabouts to come forward, assuring anonymity.
