MBABANE —Investigations into the kidnapping and extortion of a dentist have uncovered that Sikhumbuzo ‘Mzekezeke’ Mdluli, who is now a person of interest, is out on parole.

Mdluli, originally from KaBhekinkosi in the Manzini Region, was released from Matsapha Maximum Prison on November 4, 2025, after serving part of a lengthy sentence. Court records show that he had been convicted for murder and robbery.

He received a 14-year term for the murder charge and seven years for robbery.

The sentences were ordered to run concurrently – effectively reducing the total time to be served.

His early release was on parole, under supervision by the Correctional authorities.

However, police sources now allege that while still on parole, Mdluli became involved in the kidnapping of a 42-year-old dentist, Mncedisi Matsebula, from Mnyamatsini on January 3 – a crime that has gripped law enforcement and the public alike.

The investigators believe the dentist was abducted from the entrance of his residence in the late afternoon and reportedly forced to travel to Ludzeludze, where he was coerced into transferring E15 000 via the eWallet platform before being released.

In a public appeal, the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has identified Mdluli as a person of interest in the ongoing probe, and he is now officially wanted. Police have distributed an infographic with his details and are urging members of the public to come forward with information on his whereabouts.

“The Royal Eswatini Police Service is appealing to members of the public to assist in locating Mazwi Mdluli of KaBhekinkosi, who is wanted in connection with the kidnapping of a 42-year-old man of Mnyamatsini.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hhohho RCBO Assistant Superintendent Vusie Junior Dlamini on 7606 7447 or Hhohho-in-charge Serious Crimes Unit Inspector B. Simelane on 7678 3302.

The probe has already led to several arrests. A popular Mbabane businessman, identified in police sources but at the time not yet formally named in court, was arrested on January 21 in connection with the case. Police allege he played a role in the dentist’s abduction and extortion.

Earlier, on January 14, Bandile Mrico Dlamini was arrested at Sicelwini, Manzini, in connection with the same incident.

Another key suspect, Celucolo Chester Nxumalo – a well-known Mbabane entrepreneur linked to this investigation – was reportedly taken into custody amid ongoing police action.

Nxumalo was released on E3 000 bail after appearing at the Mbabane Magistrates Court, while the prosecution is strongly opposing bail for the other accused, Dlamini.

Details around the fourth suspect, Lindelwa Zamlindi Gama of KaKhoza, remain scant, but police list him among those still at large.
