MBABANE – Royal Leopard have parted ways with striker Anas Mohammed following an underwhelming mid-season spell with the police ensemble.
Mohammed joined Leopard at the start of the campaign with high expectations, having previously featured in South Africa’s then Premiership side Free State Stars, where he made his name as a reliable goalscorer earlier in his career. During his time in the Premier Soccer League(PSL), the forward scored regularly and earned several Man of the Match awards, establishing himself as a household name in South African football.
However, he struggled to reproduce that form in Eswatini. The striker managed just four goals in 15 league appearances, with his overall contribution falling short of the standards set by the club. While there were glimpses of his quality, Mohammed failed to consistently influence matches as he had done during his PSL days.
Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube confirmed that the separation was reached by mutual consent.
“We mutually agreed with Anas that our paths should end here. He is a good player, but we had set targets and standards that were not met and he understands that. Unfortunately, he did not fully gel with the team,” said Hurube. Hurube also confirmed that Bongane ‘Ngci’ Ndzimandze has been loaned out to Pigg’s Peak Professionals to gain regular playing time.
As Leopard look to reinforce their attack, the club identified Hleliso Gamedze of Rangers as a potential replacement.
