MHLUME – The summit has been reclaimed!

Nsingizini Hotspurs ascended to the top of the table once more, propelled by a clinical double-strike from Senzo Ndlovu. Under a punishing 35-degree sun at Nsukuwansuku Stadium in Mhlume, Hotspurs turned the heat on their rivals, avenging past grievances and leapfrogging Young Buffaloes to reach 35 points.

The pressure now shifts entirely to the army side, who face Moneni Pirates this afternoon in a high-stakes bid to snatch back the lead.

The opening 45 minutes were a simmering affair defined by missed opportunities and rattling woodwork. Nsingizini’s Daniel and Simphiwe Mabuza both saw goal-bound efforts denied by the frame of the goal. At the opposite end, Nsingizini keeper Khanyakezwe Shabalala was in inspired form, producing vital saves to frustrate the dangerous Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa and Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu. For a time, it seemed the desert-like conditions would bake the scoreline into a permanent stalemate.

The deadlock finally shattered six minutes into the second half. Yeki Khumalo provided the spark, carving open the Green Mamba defence to find Senzo Ndlovu, who opted for a simple, composed tap-in to send the travelling supporters into raptures.

Green Mamba’s hopes of a comeback were dealt a crippling blow shortly after Mbutfo Dlamini saw red. Dismissed by referee Thembinkosi ‘Dovosi’ Dlamini, the correctional side was left to fight an uphill battle with only ten men.

With the numerical advantage, Nsingizini tightened their grip. The clinical finish came in the 84th minute: Thubelihle Mavuso turned provider, threading a ball to Ndlovu, who clinically dispatched his second of the day. It was a brace of brutal efficiency that silenced any remaining doubt.

The victory marks a triumphant return to form for Mandla Qhogi’s men, securing their fourth win in six outings. Conversely, the result is a bitter pill for Green Mamba. The defeat sees them slide to sixth place, their title aspirations cooling just as the league race hits its boiling point.
