MBABANE – Capital city giants Mbabane Highlanders were a notable ‘no-show’ for their highly-anticipated disciplinary hearing scheduled for last night at Sigwaca House.
Among other counts, Highlanders face charges of causing the abandonment of their Ingwenyama Cup Last 16 clash against Nsingizini Hotspurs at Mavuso Sports Centre over a week ago.
The proceedings were set to commence at 5pm, but as this reporter sat, waiting for the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee to arrive, the atmosphere was one of quiet anticipation.
The committee, chaired by Thulani Sibandze, arrived punctually along with Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Prosecutor Desmond Manda.
The officials were seen entering the boardroom for a brief meeting that lasted approximately 30 minutes.
The PLE prosecutor was the first to emerge from the boardroom, making several urgent calls before walking out to his vehicle.
Shortly after, the committee followed, and Chairman Sibandze was stopped in his tracks by the media to explain why no Highlanders officials had been seen at the venue.
Sibandze confirmed that the matter has been postponed until tomorrow, at 5:30 pm.
“The case has been postponed because Highlanders claim they did not receive the invitation to this case,” Sibandze explained.
