MANZINI – Disciplinary proceedings involving Maliyaduma Community FC regarding an alleged assault on a referee have been deferred.
The adjournment followed a refusal by the club, represented by Legal Officer Mlungisi Khumalo, to proceed without the provision of additional evidence and witnesses.
The hearing, chaired by Dennis Sifundza, took place at Liqhaga House two days ago. It follows incidents during a Manzini Super League match against Louis XIV at Mangcineni Sports Ground on February 28. The action is brought under Article 8.3 (f) of the Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) 2025/26 Regulations.
According to MRFA Prosecutor Mcebo Matsebula, several individuals linked to the club—including Nkululeko Magongo, Masiko Dlamini, Xolani Dlamini, Njabulo Malaza and Mbhekeni Thwala—face charges of misconduct and violence against match official Vusani Dlamini.
Maliyaduma Community requested that complainants produce receipts for items allegedly lost during the incident: A watch (E800), a whistle (E150), a card (E8), a tossing coin (E70) and two International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) pens (E100). The club further requested the presence of witnesses, including Dlamini, the Match Commissioner, Ayanda Makhanya and Mancoba Mahlindza.
Matsebula countered that the MRFA cannot summon personnel outside its jurisdiction, citing Article 6.16, which states that referee and commissioner reports serve as conclusive proof. The club also sought a police case number and medical reports. Matsebula noted that as these are matters for a court of law rather than a disciplinary committee, the request was ‘nearly impossible’ to meet.
Khumalo emphasised that the club would maintain its plea, with Matsebula adding that the matter could not be forced if the club felt unready. Following deliberations with committee members Mathokoza Mabuza, Doctor Simelane and Muzi Mlotsa, Sifundza announced the adjournment.
