MBABANE – As preparations intensify for the upcoming international window, reports suggest the Sihlangu international contingent has been finalised ahead of the crucial fixtures.

Information gathered indicates that interim national team tactician Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane has identified a group of foreign-based players expected to reinforce the squad. Among those reportedly set for a return is national team Captain Lindo ‘Bhabhalazi’ Mkhonta.

The ZESCO United full-back is said to headline the list of players plying their trade outside the country, who are being considered for the upcoming assignments. Sources close to the developments revealed that Ntibane, together with Team Manager Dumisani ‘DU’ Sibandze, already initiated communication with some of the targeted players regarding their availability.

The international break on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) calendar is scheduled for March 23 to 31, 2026, a period during which national teams across the globe are expected to assemble for official matches.

Mkhonta is reportedly set to be joined by South Africa-based duo  of Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido of Chippa United and AmaZulu reserve side midfielder Alakhe Mdluli.

Also believed to be part of the anticipated list are players based in Zimbabwe, including Newman ‘Strong’ Philiso of Agama, Scottland defender Kwakhe ‘Stopper’ Thwala and Hard Rock duo of midfielder Neliswa ‘Tiger’ Dlamini and forward Sambulo ‘Masoso’ Simelane.

Sources further indicated that Botswana-based internationals Mxolisi Mkhonto, who turns out for Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and Police XI midfielder Banele ‘Stiga’ Ndzabandzaba could also be included among the foreign-based options.

However, reports suggest that Europe-based Tommy Morgan may miss out on selection. Meanwhile, Clube Ferroviário de Maputo striker Bandile ‘Mliba’ Shongwe is expected to wait longer for a call-up, while Uganda-based midfielder Sizwe Gwebu is also unlikely to feature in the upcoming squad.

Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Marketing and Communications Manager Muzi ‘Rhoo’ Radebe confirmed that the official list has not yet been released.

“The technical team will announce adjustments to their squad in due course. Currently, nothing has reached my office regarding the list of international players called up,” he said.

Sihlangu are scheduled to face Eritrea in a two-legged encounter later this month. The first leg will be played in Morocco before Eswatini host the return match a week later.

Earlier, Ntibane announced a 23-member provisional squad composed mainly of locally-based players to begin preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.
