TEHRAN – Massive air strikes hit Tehran with explosions last night as Donald Trump promised the world the war would end ‘very soon’ and claimed the US has ‘already won’.
The sky above the Iranian capital glowed amid the latest wave of US-Israeli attacks, proving the US President’s vow to ‘go further’ in the conflict was serious.
Trump had earlier insisted war in the Middle East was ‘pretty much’ over and claimed the operation launched 10 days ago was ‘very far’ ahead of schedule. Trump followed up on Monday night by warning Iran would face ‘Death, Fire, and Fury’ if they close off the Straight of Hormuz.
‘‘If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America 20 times harder than they have been hit thus far,’’ he said in a Truth Social post.
‘‘Additionally, we will take out easily destroyable targets that will make it virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back, as a nation, again — death, fire and fury will reign upon them — But I hope, and pray, that it does not happen!’ Iran’s Revolutionary guard simply stated: ‘‘We are the ones who will determine the end of the war.’’
Videos last night showed further strikes on the country causing ‘unusually large’ explosions as the conflict continued in earnest.

One strike caught on video showed a huge fireball light up the sky for miles around. In another, a white glow appeared over western Tehran, a phenomenon believed by some analysts to be caused by an attack on a power distribution centre. Loud bangs could be heard elsewhere in the city, while strikes also rained down on other parts of the country, including Karaj.
The latest wave came after Trump claimed, as B-52 bombers arrived in Britain ready to be called into action, that Iran had ‘nothing left’.
Initial US estimates had suggested the conflict could drag on for anywhere between two weeks and two months. He said: ‘‘I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no air force.
‘‘Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones.
‘‘If you look, they have nothing left. There’s nothing left in a military sense.’’
Trump spoke to Vladimir Putin for an hour yesterday about the conflict in a conversation that was described as ‘frank and businesslike’ by Moscow.
While Tehran promised to increase the force and frequency of its missile launches, the resident warned: ‘‘They’ve shot everything they have to shoot, and they better not try anything cute or it’s going to be the end of that country.’’
Later, he told Republicans gathered in Miami: ‘‘We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some evil. Then, I think you’ll see it’s going to be a short-term excursion.’’
He claimed: ‘We’re going to have a much safer world as soon as it’s finished, and it’s going to be finished pretty quickly.’’
