MANZINI – Mbabane Highlanders staged a sensational comeback to snatch maximum points on home turf.

In the cathedral of Eswatini football, under the watchful gaze of club president Shauwn Mkhize and 2 000 roaring souls, the Black Bull did not merely play; they exhaled.

They breathed life into a dying cause, conjuring a comeback of shimmering, high-octane drama to snatch all three points from the jaws of a stubborn Ezulwini United.

The air at Mavuso was thick with the scent of a miracle as the final whistle pierced the evening air, triggering a symphony of ululations. The president joined her gladiators on the hallowed turf to wave to a crowd that had witnessed the Bull’s horns finally find their mark.

If this match was a poem, Zwelihle Phewa was its most resonant stanza. His brace secured back-to-back triumphs for the black and gold outfit following their emphatic win against Sisonkhe, ending a frustrating four-game drought for Highlanders. Despite the joy, the league table remains a stern mistress, with both sides locked on 30 points in the mid-table scrum. Nevertheless, the history books confirm Bull’s continued dominance in this fixture, with four wins from their last six meetings.

The afternoon began with a cold shiver for the hosts when Zenzelwe Dlamini fired from close range after just five minutes, leaving Sisekelo Matsenjwa clutching at shadows.

Although Hopewell Cele nearly levelled the score on the half-hour mark, the agony of a disallowed Zamani Simelane goal just before the interval left the Mavuso faithful restless.
