MATSAPHA – Matsapha Police Academy was transformed into a theatre of endurance as the cross-country leg of the National Commissioner’s (NATCOM) Cup took centre stage.
In a display of raw athleticism and institutional pride, officers from every region across the kingdom descended upon the academy to test their mettle against a course designed to push them to their physical limits this past Wednesday.
The circuit was far from a standard weekend jog. Riddled with a ‘platter of obstacles,’ the track demanded tactical precision as much as stamina.
The centrepiece of these challenges was a formidable spongy jump; a treacherous feature that required careful manoeuvring during the 6km ladies’ race and the grueling 8km gentlemen’s event.
National Commissioner of Police Manoma Vusi Masango, flanked by members of the Police Executive, officially kick-started proceedings. Before the starting pistol fired, Masango addressed the competitors, reinforcing a message that went beyond mere silverware.
He reiterated that while the spirit of competition is vital, the overarching objective of the NATCOM games remains the operational fitness and physical readiness of the force.
The atmosphere remained electric until the final sprint. Once the dust had settled, the focus shifted to the podium.
In a heartening display of ‘fitness for life’, medals were awarded across a spectrum of categories, including a hard-fought division for runners over the age of 50.
As reported by the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) on their official channels, the day was a resounding success.
