SITEKI – Hope springs eternally in the human breast and for Sisonkhe, the final whistle blew like a sweet, heavenly reprieve.

It is a lifeline forged in pure desire, courtesy of a lethal second-half strike from Papi Zwane, keeping the dream alive to evade the cruel trapdoor of automatic relegation and instead fight for a crucial play-off lifeline. As the table stands in its merciless beauty, Sisonkhe sit second from bottom on 27 points, trailing Amawele on 29, with Malanti Chiefs hovering just above them on 30. Should the status quo remain, Sisonkhe and Amawele will tragically join Manzini Wanderers in the abyss of relegation, while Malanti Chiefs would secure that coveted play-off sanctuary.

The final day of this footballing drama promises absolute theatre, with Sisonkhe tasked with climbing the mountain that is Mbabane Swallows, whilst Malanti Chiefs must square off against Moneni Pirates and Amawele face the already doomed Manzini Wanderers. This slender 1-0 triumph for Sisonkhe was a magnificent, sorely needed change of fortune, especially following the tense 1-all stalemate in the reverse fixture against these very opponents.

From the opening whistle, the encounter crackled with nervous energy as both sides lunged forward, yet a distinct lack of composure saw promising moves repeatedly break down in the final third. As the half-hour mark approached, Sisonkhe’s talisman Papi Zwane unleashed a ferocious, stinging effort that seemed destined for the net, only to be denied by a spectacular, defiant save from Malanti’s Lindani Dlamini. Not to be outdone, Malanti Chiefs conjured a golden opportunity of their own in the 33^rd minute through Nkosingiphile Dlamini, whose thunderous strike was brilliantly matched by Sisonkhe’s custodian, Lungelo Maziya.

Immediately after the restart, Nhlabatsi found himself in the spotlight yet again with a glorious chance to break the deadlock, only for Lindani Dlamini to produce another breathtaking piece of acrobatics to keep Sisonkhe at bay. The pendulum then swung to the other end in the 50^th minute, where Sandile Mazibuko thought he had broken Sisonkhe hearts, but his powerful, looping header was expertly dealt with by Lungelo Maziya.
