MBABANE – With more than 100 international riders already confirmed, anticipation is building for the sixth edition of the Alphasz Border2Border cycling challenge.
The sixth edition of the annual event has attracted a strong early response, with more than 173 cyclists already registered. The 2026 edition was officially launched earlier this month at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) headquarters, where title sponsors Alphasz confirmed an unchanged sponsorship package of E100 000.
Alphasz Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thandiwe Nxumalo said the company remains committed to promoting health and wellness through cycling while continuing to support sport in the country. The sponsorship was officially unveiled through a replica cheque presentation by Nxumalo alongside Alphasz Director Sharon De Sousa and Chairperson Dumisile Ngwenya.
The figures released during the launch highlight the growing appeal of the event beyond Eswatini’s borders.
Of the cyclists already registered for the June 13 challenge, more than 92 are from South Africa, while over 33 returning international riders have also signed up.
Local participation remains strong, with more than 76 emaSwati having registered for the endurance race. This is according to the latest statistics shared on a poster dated May 27, 2026.
Eswatini Cycling Association (ECA) President William Kelly described the event as more than a sporting contest, saying it continues to unite cyclists through a demanding route that stretches across the country.
