LOBAMBA – The Eswatini National Netball Association (ENNA) channelled more than E400 000 into its national teams last season.
This is according to financial figures presented at the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) marking the conclusion of the 2025/26 financial year.
Interim Treasurer Pholiswa Kunene tabled the latest statement at the OlympAfrica Centre in Lobamba yesterday in front of 16 members. The accounts showed that ENNA raised about E1 246 680 during the year under review. That figure blew past the original target of E590 000 by E656 680, portraying a 111 per cent increase driven by successful fundraising and stronger stakeholder support.
Income included E581 080 from the Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) for the Region V Games, affiliation fees to international federations, the Botswana Test Series and the Africa Netball Championships. MulaSport contributed E50 000 for the Trade Fair Cup, while the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) provided E10 000 for the Botswana Series.
The Sports Council further added E350 000 for the Tinkhundla Talent Search Tournament, while the Swaziland Building Society (SBS) put in E150 000 for the SBS Netball Leagues, alongside a E20 000 award directed to the Men’s National Team. Total expenditure ran close to a million Emalangeni, with the balance covering kits, meals and other essentials.
On the court, the Under-20 national team took part in the Region V Games in Namibia in July 2025. Despite their limited experience, the side gained valuable exposure for future international campaigns.
The Eswatini Men’s National Team hosted Zimbabwe’s men from September 5-7, 2025 and won the three-day series. Both the senior men’s and women’s teams then faced Botswana in test matches from September 26-28, 2025, with the men once again coming out on top.
