MBABANE – School football’s biggest stars of tomorrow will take centre stage on national television after Eswatini TV renewed its partnership with the Eswatini Schools Sports Association (ESSA).
The partnership was officially sealed yesterday at Eswatini TV in Hospital Hill, Mbabane, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will see seven school football matches broadcast live during the closing stages of the Instacash-sponsored competition.
The national broadcaster will televise regional finals, semi-finals and the grand final, with the initiative receiving both financial and in-kind support from Instacash.
Coverage is expected to begin today as the tournament enters a decisive phase. The battle for regional supremacy intensifies this week as the ESSA Schools Sports Tournament brings together some of the country’s finest high school football and netball talent. From today until Friday, schools from across Eswatini will battle for honours while showcasing their skills on one of the biggest sporting platforms available to young athletes.
Eswatini TV Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mlamuli Dlamini said the broadcaster was delighted to continue a project that had received overwhelming public support.
“Today is a significant day for Eswatini TV as we renew our agreement with ESSA to broadcast Instacash high school football matches. This programme forms an important part of our content offering because viewers and stakeholders responded very positively when we introduced it last year,” Dlamini said.
He said audiences appreciated seeing local talent and familiar faces featured on television.
“This platform allows local football talent to be discovered both within the country and beyond our borders. We hope the exposure can open doors for these young players, whether through employment opportunities or careers in sport,” he added.
