MBABANE – Eswatini football analyst Sifiso ‘Kananelo’ Dlamini has tipped Brazil to win the World Cup.

Dlamini was asked which nations stand the best chance of winning the World Cup, which begins this Thursday and concludes on July 19. The tournament is being co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States.

“I don’t see a new winner emerging,” Dlamini stated. “Brazil’s hunger to end their 24-year drought makes them my pick for a sixth title.” He believes Brazil remains a favourite due to their sheer volume of talent.

Dlamini noted that the tournament is packed with formidable contenders. He considers Germany always dangerous, tactically disciplined and defensively sound. The defending champions, Argentina, remain a massive threat through the enduring magic of Lionel Messi.

Spain boasts an exciting new generation. However, Dlamini believes their lack of tournament experience could be a decisive factor against seasoned opponents.

According to Dlamini, France enters the tournament with the most complete package. Their squad depth, tactical adaptability, and recent experience make them a dangerous side. “If France navigates the group stage, I believe they have the pedigree to lift the trophy,” he added.

Regarding potential first-time winners, Dlamini pointed to Portugal and the Netherlands. He remained cautious about the prospects for African nations, noting that they still rely too heavily on luck. He concluded that the World Cup is won by teams that combine talent with discipline and resilience.
