MBABANE – The coaching merry-go-round continues to gather pace, with Mbabane Highlanders Coach Selaotse ‘Sly’ Mosala emerging as a leading target for Moneni Pirates.
The South African tactician is understood to be among the shortlisted candidates identified by the ‘Sea Robbers’ following the departure of Mathews ‘Chaka Chaka’ Madlazi, although neither club has confirmed the reported negotiations.
Sources indicate discussions between Mosala and Moneni Pirates have progressed, potentially paving the way for another coaching reshuffle ahead of the 2026/27 MTN Premier League season.
Mosala joined Highlanders under unusual circumstances in March after the club accepted the alleged resignation of Ernest Mavuso before immediately announcing the South African as his successor on a deal until the end of the season.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) A Licence holder returned for a second spell at the capital city outfit, having previously coached the side in 2022 and guided them to qualification for continental football.
During the recently-concluded campaign, Mosala steered Highlanders to the Last 16 of the Ingwenyama Cup sponsored by the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (SMVAF) and oversaw a remarkable turnaround in league fortunes. After flirting with relegation during the first round, the ‘Black Bull’ finished inside the MTN Premier League’s top-five.
Highlanders Public Relations Officer (PRO) Thabiso ‘Touch’ Manyatsi declined to comment on the speculation.
“We are a big team. If there are any changes happening, we will release a statement,” said Manyatsi.
