Holidays are often a time for rest and play, but for more than 200 children in Siteki, this past break became a life-changing encounter with God. Scripture Union (SU) Eswatini, in partnership with the National Assemblies of God Church, hosted the Nurture Kids Holiday Camp at Mkhutjane, a three-day experience where faith, fun and fellowship came alive.

From the very first day, the camp was filled with excitement and expectation. Children arrived with bright faces and eager hearts, welcomed by 30 trained youth volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to serve. The programme was carefully designed not just for entertainment, but to plant seeds of faith in young hearts.

Building on God’s promises

The theme of the camp was anchored on three powerful promises of God:

  • Presence – “I will be with you and watch over you wherever you go” (Genesis 28:15).
  • Protection and provision – Discovering God’s faithful care in every circumstance.
  • Paradise – The eternal hope believers share in Christ.

Through engaging Bible lessons, memory verses, small group discussions and uplifting times of worship, these truths were woven into the lives of the children in a way that was both relatable and unforgettable. Of course, no camp is complete without games and laughter. The children enjoyed a variety of fun activities that encouraged teamwork, creativity and joy. Yet even in the play, faith remained at the centre. Testimonies soon began to flow, as many children spoke about experiencing Jesus as their Friend for the first time. Seeds of hope and faith were clearly being planted.

On the final day, parents were invited to join a parenting seminar, where discussions highlighted the importance of nurturing children’s faith at home. The message was clear: While camps and church gatherings play a vital role, faith formation truly begins in the family setting. If a single weekend can plant such lasting seeds, imagine the transformation when homes, schools and churches work together to nurture young hearts every day.
