Looking for a peaceful escape, just a few kilometres from town yet tucked deep in nature’s embrace? Think Emafini Country Lodge. Cradled along Malangwane Hill, this countryside gem offers the perfect setting for a weekend getaway or an impromptu midweek breather.

True to its name, Emafini; meaning ‘the skies,’ lives up to its promise. The lodge opens to sweeping views of clouds suspended above the valley, and when the mist rolls in, the whole hill is wrapped in a soft, dreamlike fog. It’s a sight that quiets the mind and stirs the soul.

Guests are encouraged to check in before 9pm, but if spontaneity strikes and there’s a room available, it’s yours. Breakfast is served from 7am to 9.30am, giving you a chance to choose between buffet style or à la carte. Even if you’re not staying overnight, you’re welcome to join for breakfast (it’s not complimentary, but good food never is). Each room overlooks Mvutjini Valley and the rolling Nyonyane Mountains, and if you’re lucky, a hadada might serenade you at sunrise. Families will love the relaxed atmosphere; there’s a pool for the little ones to make a splash and a play area to keep them busy while you unwind by the fire pit.

For the adventurous, Emafini offers a scenic 14km hiking trail with gentle ascents and descents that reveal the beauty of the landscape at every turn. Wait for it… there is a thundering waterfall along the trail. Whether you’re chasing tranquility or adventure, Emafini Country Lodge delivers both effortlessly.
