For many motorists, a car is simply a means of getting from point A to point B, but for George Thembumenzi from Ezulwini, his car is more than transport, it is a trusted companion with a story of its own.
George drives a white Volkswagen Jetta 3, third generation, manufactured in 1994 and powered by a reliable 2E engine. The car is affectionately known as ‘Fighter Jetta’, a name that was earned, not chosen.
The story behind the name dates back to a trip George took with his friends.
“During the journey, the car began acting up and developing faults, causing tension among my friends and I.
“Concerned that they might not reach their destination, one of my friends shouted inside the car, urging it not to disappoint them, repeatedly calling out, ‘Fighter Jetta!’ In a surprising turn of events, the car pushed through every problem and fought all the way until we arrived safely. From that day on, the name stuck,” shared George.
George bought the car from an old man and since then, it has proven to be a dependable and enjoyable ride. What he loves most about the Fighter Jetta is that it never disappoints him on the road. According to George, everything runs smoothly, the car is fast and it is a lot of fun to drive. Both the engine and gearbox are in perfect condition, operating at 100 per cent.
One of the most unique aspects of George’s car is its set-up. The Fighter Jetta is a static Jetta 3, giving it a distinct stance and personality that sets it apart from others on the road.
For George, the Fighter Jetta is not just a vehicle, it is a fighter that has earned his trust through reliability, performance and memorable moments. In a world where cars come and go, this one has clearly secured a permanent place in his heart.
