For many young entrepreneurs, starting a business requires courage, determination and a clear vision. For Nhlakanipho Sikhosana, it is also about bringing people together through good food and positive energy.
Sikhosana is the co-owner of De Pizza Eats, a newly opened food outlet in Siphofaneni, which he runs in partnership with his friend Sibusiso Mamba. The business opened its doors on March 3, 2026 and is located at the Dynamic Building, upstairs opposite Ruchi Wholesalers along the road to Big Bend.
Although the venture is still in its early stages, Sikhosana says the response from customers has been encouraging. “We have only been open for three weeks, but we are already seeing progress day by day. People are responding well to what we are offering,” he said.
The idea to start the business came after Sikhosana and his partner noticed that the location which previously housed another business, was no longer operating.
“The place used to be busy before it closed. When we saw it, we thought it would be a good opportunity to start something different there. We wanted to offer something unique, while still giving people food they enjoy,” he explained.
At De Pizza Eats, customers can enjoy a variety of meals including pizza, grilled chicken served with fries and rolls and kota. Sikhosana said they have added creativity to their menu by giving their kota meals unique names such as the Cruiser Kota and Legend Kota, which customers have quickly grown to love.
His vision for the business is to blend international food styles with local taste. “My vision is about savouring Swati flavours, while delivering delicious food across the country. With pizza, we blend global flavours with local twists. With kota, we serve street food magic, and with grilled chicken we bring that smoky Swati-style goodness,” he said. “The mission behind the business, he added, is to create a place where customers enjoy both the food and the atmosphere.
We want to fuel emaSwati smiles with crave-worthy pizza, legendary kota moments and finger-licking grilled chicken, all served with warmth and fun whenever customers visit or place orders.”
As a business owner, Sikhosana believes leadership plays an important role in maintaining a productive team. He describes himself as a leader who encourages teamwork and positivity in the workplace. “I like to work together with my team.
When there are orders, I also get involved so that we meet the high standards we have set for ourselves.
“I want everyone to work in a cool and friendly environment because when employees enjoy coming to work, the production becomes better,” he said.
Customer satisfaction is another priority for the young entrepreneur. He ensures that orders are prepared within the promised time of 15 to 20 minutes and communicates with customers if delays occur. “If there is a delay, I go to the customer and explain what is happening. Sometimes, we offer a free juice or take pictures with them if they are comfortable with it. “I also chat with them while they wait to make them feel welcome,” he said.
Sikhosana says feedback from customers has been positive so far, with many sending messages after visiting the restaurant. Despite the excitement of running a new business, he remains mindful that success takes time and persistence.
He recalls advice that has stayed with him throughout his journey. “One person once told me never to fear trying.
It is better to try and fail, then learn where you went wrong and improve.”
At the end, you will win,” he said.
Faith also plays a significant role in his approach to business.
“I believe that whatever you do, you should involve God. In the Bible it says, ‘In the beginning there was God,’ and that reminds me that God should be part of everything we do,” he added.
Looking ahead, Sikhosana dreams of expanding his business beyond Siphofaneni.
“I never imagined I would be where I am today, but with the grace of God and the support of my family, church, friends and the nation at large, I am here.
In the future I see myself opening more restaurants and businesses both in the country and outside,” he said.
For now, he remains focused on building his brand by offering food that reflects local tastes while staying open to new ideas and improvements. “I have a passion for local flavours and I want to continue learning more about business and leadership so that I can grow,” he said. the olny book i read now it’s the Bible that the only book i read but i want to equip myself on business and leadership am planning to get books that are relevant to what am doing.
