MBABANE – Hhohho has a new queen!!!

The Miss Hhohho Pageant that took place this past weekend saw Simphiwe Mavimbela being crowned as the new Queen. Her first Princess is Lomahlubi Dlamini and Second Princess title went to Nonjabuliso Shongwe.

Miss Hhohho Director  Kwazile Masimula, said that it was not easy to get the girls to participate, thus thanking their parents for supporting and allowing them to join the pageant.

“Organising an event has never been an easy task, I just want to thank all the parents , sponsors and Arts and Culture for making this event possible,” she said.

Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) CEO, Stanley Dlamini also congratulated all the participants.

“Would like to congratulate all the young women who took courage to participate in the competition. As ENCAC, we are mnadted by the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Policy to promote and develop the arts and culture sector. We backed the Miss Hhohho pageant inspired by the policy mandate. Through this mandate, we believe that the young women who took part in the competition were empowered and were able to grow more confidence. We are also grateful to all sponsors and the organisers who made the Miss Hhohho pageant dream come true,”he said.

Under the banner ‘Celebrating Talent. Empowering the Youth. Inspiring the Future’, the pageant was framed not merely as a beauty contest but as a platform for confidence, creativity and leadership. Organisers said the event reflects a deliberate commitment to creating spaces where young people can showcase their potential and turn aspiration into action.

“Events like these provide our youth with the opportunity to showcase their confidence, creativity, leadership and potential,” said Masimula.

Masimula concluded by stating that they firmly believe in the power of young people and remain committed to creating platforms that empower, inspire and celebrate their talents.

The evening celebrated artistry as much as poise. Contestants performed talent pieces, delivered advocacy messages and engaged in interview rounds that tested their understanding of community issues. The production was guided by the Eswatini National Arts and Culture Policy, which seeks to promote and develop the sector while ensuring young artists and performers have viable pathways.

With the new titleholder now set to undertake community outreach and arts advocacy in the coming year, organisers say the focus will shift to mentorship, workshops and partnerships that keep youth at the centre of cultural development in Hhohho.
