DAKAR – Eswatini swimmer Luca Fraser signed off his 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games campaign on a high note after recording a personal best in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke.
This was confirmed by Eswatini Chef de Mission (CDM) Zakhele Zulu, who reported that Fraser had improved his previous best time by one second in his final event.
Swimming in Lane 1 during Heat 5 of 5, Fraser clocked 30.66 seconds to finish sixth in the eight-man heat.
The 50m Breaststroke was his third event at the Games, having earlier competed in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke.
In the 100m Breaststroke, Fraser clocked 1:09.17 to finish sixth in his heat and 17th overall among 29 swimmers.
He subsequently competed in the 200m Breaststroke, where he stopped the clock at 2:32.05, finishing sixth in his heat and 10th overall. He also improved his personal best by two seconds, earning second-reserve status for the final.
His final appearance in the 50m event brought another milestone, with the youngster shaving a full second off his previous personal best.
Fraser said he was happy with his overall performance, particularly achieving a personal best at the international competition.
He also revealed that he had reached the 600 International Swimming Federation (FINA) points standard, describing the achievement as a good outcome.
Having completed his competitive programme, Fraser said he was looking forward to exploring Dakar over the next two days before returning home.
The three events provided the young swimmer with valuable international experience and saw him register personal best improvements in both the 200m and 50m Breaststroke.
