MANZINI – The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has paid tribute to the late Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza, with Peter ‘Touch’ Magagula stating that Siboza lived football.
These remarks were shared yesterday at the Prince Mfanyana Hall in Manzini during Siboza’s memorial service, which celebrated his life and accomplishments.
“Siboza lived and breathed football. He served in all regions of our football landscape, including at a national level. He was a very respected and respectful individual,” Magagula said.
The former Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) chairman emphasised how time-conscious Siboza was, noting that he was one of the few people he knew who truly respected time.
“One of his strongest points was respect, and football has lost a vital component,” he added. Magagula also praised Siboza’s transparency, stating that he was a very honest person who would tell you things straightforwardly and never saw the need to compromise.
He concluded by expressing his gratitude to those in attendance, especially from the football fraternity and urged them to continue their support going forward.
Speaking on behalf of the Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA), Vice-Chairman Themba Mavuso stated that the office is what it is today because of the work done by the late Siboza.
He shared that Siboza was like a father to him and that he even tried to mirror his dress sense. “As the MRFA, we are extremely grateful for the work Siboza did for football. His passing is like a river that has dried up; he truly excelled in his work,” Mavuso said.
He added that he was grateful to have had the chance to speak to Siboza before his passing, who shared that his wish was to go home with his children and spend about three months just with his family.
