SIPHOCOSINI – Siphocosini Sports for Health Netball Programme launched with a E176 000 boost from the Jaziland Family Trust.
The Siphocosini Indvuna YeNkhundla, Wilton ‘Jazi’ Mamba, launched the Siphocosini Sports for Health Netball Programme with a significant E176 850 investment from the Jaziland Family Trust. The announcement was made yesterday at the Siphocosini Inkhundla, where Mamba explained that the initiative, which began last year, will be sponsored for three years, with the trust seeking further partners to continue the programme.
Initially, 20 teams participated, but Mamba revealed that some challenges left them with 16 strong teams of women and their daughters. The age range of the players is diverse, spanning from teenagers to women in their 70s.
Mamba highlighted the programme’s key objectives: To promote women’s health, foster stronger family bonds and provide financial empowerment.
During matches, a ‘hosting team’ provides food and collects E400 from each of the 16 teams, generating an income of E6 400.
Mamba explained that this system allows the women to cut their costs and make some profit’, thereby empowering them financially.
