MBABANE – Eswatini’s national football team Sihlangu will keep Head Coach, Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic, at the helm for an ‘extended’ period.

This follows new revelations about his contract. Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer Frederick Mngomezulu has confirmed that Logarusic’s contract is set to expire at the end of November, not this month as had been widely reported.

Mngomezulu was contacted for clarification on who would be in charge for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Angola early next month, amid reports that Logarusic’s current deal was coming to an end in September.

The EFA CEO strongly refuted the claims. “That’s not true. I’m not sure where that comes from because there is nowhere it states his contract expires at the end of this month; to be specific, it expires at the end of November,” Mngomezulu said.

He further clarified that the coach’s tenure was always intended to run until the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup Qualifying process. “That was the period which he was set to be gauged under because when he was engaged, he was engaged for the World Cup Qualifying process, which concludes at the end of November,” he added.

Mngomezulu noted that Logarusic was unveiled at the end of August last year and officially began his duties on September 1, coinciding with the start of the qualifiers.
