MBABANE – Local Chef and entrepreneur Neliswa Nkala, has been featured in the South African Food and Home magazine’s Spring Issue, making her the first liSwati to appear on its pages.
Nkala, a celebrated figure in the food industry, has long championed Eswatini’s indigenous cuisine.
Her work focuses on modernising traditional recipes while preserving their authentic flavours, a philosophy that has earned her widespread acclaim. Recently, she became the first local entrepreneur to forge a collaborative partnership with Woolworths Food.
In an interview with this publication, Nkala revealed that her conversation with the Food and Home magazine editor began around April, with the content finalised for the magazine in July and out now.
She explained: “They were just looking for a perfect slot in their content schedule for the magazine. By the time we started the conversation, they decided to include me in the Spring Issue.
“It was intentional because it is a celebration of Heritage Month in South Africa. They thought that since they are covering my indigenous and heritage food journey, it would be a perfect fit to publish in September in celebration of heritage. They also covered a story of a chef who is celebrating indigenous food and heritage in the process.”
