MBABANE – Local is Lekker!

Local Gospel Powerhouse Nothando Hlophe’s viral ‘Methodist Medley’ has once again captured the hearts of her fans, with the song taking the title of the crossover song on Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS).

‘Methodist Medley’ is more than just a song; it is an anthem that ushered listeners into the New Year on the siSwati channel.

The song’s lyrics, which focus on themes of divine protection and spiritual refuge, strike a universal chord. The song has become a staple on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook, where its sound is widely used in reels and testimonies, amplifying its reach far beyond Eswatini’s borders.

The success of the track, taken from her new album ‘A New Dawn’, is a clear indication that authentic, heartfelt worship music continues to echo deeply and denominations to inspire millions across the continent. The phenomenal hymn was recorded live on June 7, 2025, at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre.

The live recording, characterised by Hlophe’s signature powerhouse vocals and dynamic band, bridges the gap between traditional church worship and contemporary Gospel soundscapes.

The track’s ascent has been nothing short of meteoric. It quickly garnered an initial 100 000 views within its first seven days before soaring past the one million and four million view marks in a space of a few weeks.

On the other hand, Young Zesh’s ‘Sengibeketele’ was also the second song that ushered EBIS 1 listeners into 2026. The vibrant track resonates deeply with its audience, embodying themes of hope, renewal and reflection, making it an ideal song for the crossover to a fresh start. Young Zesh is celebrated not only for his unique voice, but also for his impressive songwriting skills, factors that have propelled him to the top of the music charts in Eswatini.

Young Zesh’s journey in the music industry has been marked by his ability to connect with his audience through his lyrics and melodious tunes.

‘Sengibeketele’ exemplifies this connection, as it engages listeners from the very first note. The infectious rhythm combined with his expressive vocals makes ‘Sengibeketele’ a song that is sure to be played repeatedly during celebrations and gatherings throughout the year.
