MBABANE – The rain did not stop 55 runners from flexing their muscles during yesterday’s Mbabane Parkrun.

Under unfavourable conditions, as rain persisted like in the last week, the field saw a neck-and-neck battle at the front, while the women’s section showcased a promising crop of young talent.

In the men’s division, Musawenkhosi Mamba emerged as the king of the course, clocking a blistering 19:20 minutes to secure the top spot.

He was pushed all the way to the finish line by Samkeliso Simelane, who followed a mere four seconds behind in 19:24.

Rounding out the podium for the men was Nkosinathi Nkambule, who recorded a time of 20:47.

On the women’s side, Phiwokuhle ‘Speed Fire’ Bulunga ruled the roost, crossing the line in 25:48.

She was followed by Senele Hlatshwayo, who finished in 26:41, while Nkosephayo Mthethwa secured the third position for the ladies with a time of 27:40.

Further down the field, veteran runner Chris Morgan proved that age is but a number, completing the course in 42:56, while regular participants such as Lutfo Dlamini clocked 38:46 minutes and Xolani Ngcamphalala 46:57 continues to show consistent form.

Some of the runners said they are using this run as the final preparatory race for the Lactalis Resolution Run next Saturday.
