MBABANE – MTN Premier League strugglers Manzini Wanderers shockingly sacked Coach Gcina Dlamini on Wednesday night in a phone call lasting mere seconds.

The ‘Weslians’ management reportedly met immediately after the club’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to Young Buffaloes at the Mkhuzweni Technical Centre. Sources close to the maroon and white hub giants confirmed the board took the swift decision to relieve the former Ubombo Sugar mentor of his duties. “The coach has been sacked and I have gathered that he was informed over the phone,” a source alleged.

Dlamini’s departure marks a sharp turn in fortunes since joining the club early this season. He made an immediate impact on November 11, 2025, leading Wanderers to a spirited 2-2 draw against Mbabane Highlanders at Mavuso Sports Centre.

However, the former Moneni Pirates gaffer was subsequently dogged by poor results, recording only one victory, a 1-0 win over his former team Ubombo Sugar at Mayaluka Stadium on November 13.

Sources also revealed that Wanderers have shortlisted Zimbabwean gaffer Ikabort Masocha as the ideal candidate to fill the void. Masocha is a familiar face in local football, following stints with Manzini Sundowns, Moneni Pirates and Nsingizini Hotspurs.

The dismissal was confirmed via a statement from Head of Communications, Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini, who claimed the parties, had mutually agreed to part ways.

“Manzini Wanderers and Gcina Dlamini announce that they have mutually agreed to terminate their partnership effectively,” the statement read.

The club further disclosed that the amicable separation was in the best strategic interests of both parties following an unproductive period where results were not forthcoming.

‘Ntofo’ revealed that the club is currently engaging three potential candidates who are expected to be unveiled today.

“They shall come as a head coach and two assistants,” he noted.
