To many people online, MCO Jamrock is the creative personality behind viral content, growing numbers and an ever-expanding audience. On social media, his rise appears exciting, fast-paced and full of celebration. However, behind the public image is a young man still adjusting to the reality of becoming one of Eswatini’s increasingly recognised creatives.
Away from the spotlight, MCO Jamrock says life no longer feels as simple as it once did. What used to be passion and self-expression now comes with responsibility, pressure and expectations from people who constantly want more from him. “Right now I feel pressure to deliver to people who are entertained by my ability to be creative. I feel like now, I am employed,” he remarked. This statement carries the weight many creatives rarely talk about publicly. Once people begin depending on your creativity for entertainment, inspiration or trends, there is pressure to constantly produce, remain visible and stay relevant. While supporters often focus on the rewards of fame, MCO Jamrock says the reality behind it can feel mentally exhausting at times. Yet despite the growing attention around him, his lifestyle remains surprisingly grounded.
A day in MCO Jamrock’s world
Unlike the glamorous lifestyles many people associate with rising fame, MCO Jamrock describes his daily routine as disciplined, spiritual and heavily centred around creativity. Most mornings begin with prayer. “Wake up, pray for a good production day,” he said. After that, he checks in with his manager to find out whether there are any scheduled assignments, appearances or creative obligations for the day. When there is no official work lined up, he chooses isolation over distraction. “If there are no assignments, I lock myself in the house and freestyle,” he explained. “Lately, I’ve been learning to write lyrics since I’m not used to it.” There is something deeply human about that image, a young creative sitting indoors for hours, refining lyrics, experimenting with ideas and trying to sharpen his craft while the outside world only sees the finished product online. It also reflects someone who understands that talent alone is not enough to sustain success. Despite already receiving attention, MCO Jamrock is still actively learning and developing himself creatively.
Creativity finally paying the bills
For many young creatives in Eswatini, art is often treated as a side hobby rather than something capable of creating financial stability. MCO Jamrock understands that reality well, which is why he says one of the most fulfilling parts of his journey is simply being able to survive through creativity. He added that he feels happy to know that he makes a living now out of creativity. There is a quiet sense of gratitude in the way he speaks about his success. Rather than focusing only on fame or popularity, he values the fact that his creativity now supports his daily life. To him, being able to pay bills through doing what he genuinely loves is already a form of success. “That I do what I love doing and get paid for it. To be able to pay your bills and sort your needs with what you love,” he said, with his words reflecting a dream many creatives chase for years without reaching, financial independence through passion.
While some artists speak about strategy, branding or luck when discussing their rise, MCO Jamrock constantly returns to one thing: Faith. According to him, this current chapter of his life feels deeply spiritual and impossible to explain without acknowledging God. “This chapter is a great revelation of who God is. God is the creator, author of life,” he explained.
For Jamrock, everything about his journey feels divinely aligned. “I feel like I have been handpicked by God to do a task with the way everything happened around my life effortlessly,” he added. His belief in divine purpose appears to give him emotional grounding amid the chaos that comes with visibility and public attention. It is also part of what keeps him centred despite the rapid changes happening around him.
