MBABANE- Twenty scholarships have been made available for emaSwati students to pursue higher education in Morocco and Serbia during the 2026/27 academic year.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security announced that the opportunities are being offered under bilateral agreements between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Kingdom of Morocco, as well as the Republic of Serbia.

Of the 20 scholarships, 15 are being offered by Morocco while five are available through Serbia’s ‘World in Serbia’ scholarship programme.

The scholarships provide an opportunity for young emaSwati to study in fields considered critical to national development, including medicine, engineering, technology, business and management sciences.

According to the ministry, the Moroccan scholarships are open to applicants aged between 19 and 23 years who completed high school in 2025.

The 15 scholarships are divided into five places at public universities, five places at technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions and five merit-based scholarships at private English-language universities. Applicants seeking admission to private universities are required to have an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 35 calculated from their best five credited subjects.

Available fields of study include medical studies, paramedical sciences, commercial and management sciences, as well as engineering and technological sciences.

The ministry said the Moroccan scholarship package includes an air ticket, tuition fees, a monthly training allowance of 750 Moroccan Dirhams, equivalent to approximately US$80, medical cover and language preparation.

Successful applicants will be required to undertake French language training before commencing their studies.

Students interested in the Moroccan scholarships can access application information and a list of participating institutions through the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation website. Applications must be submitted to the Scholarship Office at the Old Income Tax Building in Mbabane by June 15, 2026.

Meanwhile, Serbia has opened five scholarship opportunities for emaSwati students wishing to enrol at various universities across the European country. The scholarship package includes a compulsory Serbian language course, tuition fees, accommodation, meals, health insurance for students under 26 years and a monthly allowance of 18 000 Serbian Dinars, equivalent to about US$180.

Applicants must be emaSwati citizens under the age of 26. Those applying for undergraduate studies must be younger than 21 years and possess a Form Five certificate. Candidates are also required to demonstrate basic English language proficiency and successfully complete a Serbian language course before enrolling in their chosen academic programmes.

Applications for the Serbian scholarships must be submitted online through the “World in Serbia” portal before June 26, 2026. Applicants are also required to email certified copies of supporting documents, including a health certificate, to the Serbian authorities before submitting hard copies to the Scholarship Office in Mbabane.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security encouraged interested students to carefully read all application requirements and submit complete documentation before the respective deadlines.
