As schools reopen and classrooms begin to fill with energy once again, the ‘back to school’ season offers a fresh start for every student.

It is a time to set new goals, embrace new challenges and build on the knowledge gained in previous terms. Whether stepping into a new grade or returning with familiar faces, each learner has an opportunity to grow academically and personally.

The reopening of schools should not simply be seen as a return to routine, but as a continuation of a journey. Education does not begin and end within the walls of a classroom. In fact, one important lesson that stands out is this: The closing of schools does not mean that students should close their books. Learning is a continuous process that extends beyond the school calendar.

Experience has shown that students who remained engaged with their studies during the holidays often return more confident and prepared. They tend to grasp new concepts more quickly and perform better overall.

Reading, practicing exercises and staying curious during the break helps keep the mind active and ready for new material.

On the other hand, completely disconnecting from learning can make it harder to adjust when school resumes.

This is not to say that holidays should be filled entirely with schoolwork. Rest and recreation are important for balance and well-being. However, maintaining a habit of light study, reading books or exploring educational topics can make a significant difference.

As the new term begins, students are encouraged to adopt consistent study habits, stay organised and take responsibility for their learning.

Teachers and parents also play a key role in guiding and supporting students, helping them stay motivated and focused.

Back to school is more than just returning to class, it is a reminder that learning never truly stops. Those who keep their minds active, even during breaks, position themselves for success.

Let this new term be a time of renewed commitment, curiosity and growth.
