The Kia Sonet has received a significant update in South Africa, with Kia adding more safety, technology and comfort features across the range while maintaining its appeal as a practical compact SUV.
One of the biggest additions is the standard sunroof on the EX, the popular mid-spec model. The feature adds a premium touch while enhancing the cabin experience.
Kia has also introduced new LS+ derivatives, available with manual and CVT transmissions. These models bring a six-airbag safety specification further down the range, making enhanced safety accessible to more buyers. Electronic Stability Control and Hill-start Assist Control remain standard across the range.
The updated line-up also gives the LX and EX additional technology and comfort features, while the flagship SX continues with advanced driver assistance systems and a 10.25-inch HD display. It now gains a BOSE sound system as standard, adding a more premium audio experience.
Practicality
Under the bonnet, the Sonet retains its 1.5 MPI petrol engine, producing 85kW and 144Nm. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual or CVT automatic transmission. With 190mm of ground clearance and 385 litres of luggage capacity, the Sonet combines compact SUV dimensions with useful everyday practicality.
Kia South Africa CEO Paul Turnbull says the upgrades strengthen the Sonet’s position in a competitive segment by extending safety and technology features to more customers. Adding further peace of mind is Kia South Africa’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty. The cover is particularly useful for high-mileage drivers, long-distance commuters and fleet operators.
