MATSAPHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has hailed the late Minister for Home Affairs, Princess Lindiwe, for making the country’s culture vibrant and colourful.
Speaking through his representative, Reverend Dr Absalom Dlamini, the King said the late minister ensured that Eswatini’s culture remained dynamic, ensuring everyone looked presentable and proud in the nation’s traditional regalia. He added that through her efforts, citizens no longer hesitate to attend national events.
Dr Dlamini also noted that the Princess elevated the nation’s cultural heritage to such an extent that other countries now admire and attempt to emulate Eswatini’s traditions, though they could never quite replicate them.
Meanwhile, representing His Majesty’s Government, Deputy Prime Minister Thulisile Dladla recalled the late minister’s deep passion for Eswatini culture. Dladla shared an anecdote from a parliamentary debate regarding whether cultural affairs should fall under the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs or the Ministry of Home Affairs. She recalled how Princess Lindiwe left parliament in stitches by saying that when the nation was ready to get serious about its culture, they would bring it to her ministry.
Speaking on behalf of the Lutsango regiment, Dumsile Sigwane also shared how deeply the minister loved both the country’s culture and the regiment. She highlighted how Princess Lindiwe consistently ensured members were well cared for during national events.
